BSM Popups

Norwich Popup / 1st - 2nd December 2023

Lowell Records, 8 Pottergate, Norwich NR2 1DS

There's something brewing up in Norwich so we just had to see it for ourselves, by opening a popup shop! Our friends at Lowell Records kindly let us take over their shop for two days, armed with some classic BSM merch, signed records and test pressings.

Other Half, SUDS and our friends Hello Pedro performed some fabulous instores, and Vino Sangre, Fortissimo and Sophie Porter helped us deliver a super music drop in clinic. It was so ace to meet you all! Thanks to Queer Brewing for supplying refreshments, and you lot for helping us raise some cash for Norfolk LGBT+ Project.

Where shall we go next?

Cologne Popup / September 2022

POPSUBWißmannstr 40, 50823, Köln

We were delighted to be invited by our good friends at POPSUB in Cologne to open our first international popup! We had an absolute blast: with instores from our very own We Were Promised Jetpacks and friends in Shitney Beers and Between Bodies, all while trying to dust off our GCSE level german.

We took along our fan favourite I Like Dogs & Music T-shirts, translated into german, and some brand new merch designed by Jamie Lenman, as well as a bunch of signed records, test pressings and choice cuts from our catalogue.

Huge thanks go to the folks at POPSUB, Fleet Union and Black Screen Records for hosting us, and we can't wait to be back in Germany sometime soon!

Danke, dass Sie uns haben

Brighton Popup 2.0 / September 2021

In September 2021 we took over Dukes Lane in Brighton for the for the fifth in our series of popup shops. With all the usual lastest releases, test pressings, signed records and even some hand-drawn LPs from Jamie Lenman, we had a fab time down by the coast.

Instores came from Orchards, ME REX, Delta Sleep and Lakes with a little help from our friends in The Xcerts, Katie Malco and Currls.

We also raised a bunch of cash for Brighton Womens Centre with a week long raffle, and partied hard with help from our friends at Unbarred Brewery and Signature Brew.

Where to next?

Virtual Popup / August 2020

popup.bsmrocks.com

Having closed the doors early to our Brighton Popup in March, we promised that we would be back, only this time we decided to go completely virtual, live and on screens around the world. For the last week of July we opened our Virtual Popup doors in a post-apocalyptic desert, featuring all of our usual exclusive vinyl and merch, a bar stocked to the rafters by our good friends at Signature Brew and t-shirts for sale in aid of Black Minds Matter UK and Music Venues Trust.

The week long extravaganza also featured live performances from the likes of  Kevin DevineWe Were Promised Jetpacksilluminati hottiesNervus, Proper., Orchards and more, while we also sat down a bunch of our roster for a catch up including Cassels, Gender Roles, Alpha Male Tea Party, Chris Farren and Martha. We also had a live Q&A with Delta Sleep while Jamie Lenman let us into his home while he interviewed himself.

It was a really fun yet challenging week, but we really enjoyed putting it all together for you while the world won’t allow us to hang together just yet. We really hope you enjoyed our popup from the comfort of your own home, and hopefully we’ll be back in person soon!

Brighton Popup /  March 2020 Postponed

Back in March 2020 we planned a whole week of festivities down by the south coast: instores, beer tastings and lots of exclusive BSM goodies on offer. We set everything up, got ready to open the doors, and then the pandemic hit. So we opened up for a day or two for private instores from Delta Sleep (which you can watch on our YouTube) and hangs with our bands past and present Orchards, Gender Roles, Gnarwolves, Meet Me In St Louis while we took the store back down.

Alas, lockdown hit, so we closed the doors with plans to return once the world re-opened.

Glasgow Popup - November/December 2019

For the last weekend in November 2019, we opened our popup shop in Glasgow. Slinging records and merch, we also invited the wonderful Adam Thompson from We Were Promised Jetpacks and locals Spyres in for intimate acoustic performances, alongside a live interview with Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai/Rock Action, Speed Mentoring Sessions and a label meet up.

We also raised a bunch of cash for Tiny Changes with help from Stefan Babcock of PUP, who designed a delightful t-shirt for us, Many Studios who let us use their studio for the event, and lovely refreshment from Brewgooder, Re:Stalk Cider and Drygate Brewery. A marvellous weekend, albeit the minus 4 degree temperature.

Cardiff Popup - April 2018

For one week in April 2018, we opened the doors to our first ever Cardiff popup shop. We brought the label right to the city with in-store performances from the likes of Jamie Lenman, Slaughter Beach Dog, Nervus, Orchards and Worriers, as well as a shop visit from the Tiny Moving Parts boys.

With help from our lovely friends at Head Above the Waves, Diverse Music and Fuelled By Jealous Lovers, we had a very fun week indeed!

London Popup - Feb 2017

To celebrate reaching 200 releases and our sweet 16th birthday we opened a popup shop in East London for two weeks in January 2017.

It included instores from Modern Baseball, Kevin Devine, Beach Slang, Gnarwolves, Delta Sleep and Tall Ships, a cocktail bar setup and run by Tiny Moving Parts, a dog day, live screen printing, a few hundred beers and loads of lovely customers. You can see more pictures of the event here.
