Nearly there!
Sorry about the delay in getting this sorted. We had some problems but are there at last and can finally tell you that The 6 Machine will be released on 23rd June (the 6th month) on 10" vinyl and digital download. It will cost £6 (obviously) and the first 66 online orders will come with a free CD version of the compilation. If you like, you can download an MP3 which features a short sample of all 6 tracks, clocking in at exactly 6 minutes and 6 seconds!
And the 6-related fun doesn't end there, hell no! We are currently 6 weeks away from release and so have decided to offer you a little something each week. Just come back to this page each Monday for details.
This week (12th May)... Meet Me In St Louis' brilliant debut album for just £6! That's right, you can now pick up the wonderful 'Variations On Swing' for just 6 quid, up but only up until Monday 19th May. Click here to take advantage
Also, keep an eye on Blog Scary Monsters as we'll be asking each of the 6 bands to submit a guest entry over the next few weeks.

The winners!
A huge thank you to everyone who voted for their favourite band from the shortlisted 12. We had well over 2500 people voting (as well as an extra 5000 votes which the website logged but didn't count - sorry people, you only get one choice!) and to say it was close would be an understatement, with the 6th placed band hanging on to their place by just 2 votes! So, with no further ado, the bands who make up the tracklisting for the 6 Machine can now be unveiled:
1. Blakfish - 312 votes
2. Minotaur Explode - 291
2. My First Tooth - 291
4. Caesura - 263
5. The Defeat - 231
6. Colour - 205
It was a hard-fought race and the other 6 bands (Pennines, Pictures, Copy Haho, Our Own Devices, The Worldonfire and Twin Atlantic) were just a whisker away.
The 6 winners will now be assembled into an order and the tracklisting for the record, along with details of how you can get a copy, will be posted on here shortly.
The shortlist!
First off, if you're unaware of what the 6 Machine is all about, scroll down and have a read.
Secondly, a huge thank you to all of the artists who submitted tracks for consideration. We had hundreds of them and its taken us a few days to get through them all. There were some brilliant ones, there were some not quite so brilliant ones, and unfortunately there were one or two horrible ones, but it's the taking part that counts, hey?
After much deliberation we've now chosen our favourite 12 tracks (below) and it's over to you to decide on the 6 which will make up the tracklisting of the 6 Machine record. The 12 bands to choose from are, in alphabetical order:
1. Blakfish - Preparing For Guests
2. Caesura - Weight and Carriage
3. Colour - Over The Moon
4. Copy Haho - You Are My Coal Mine
5. Minotaur Explode - Stark's Pond
6. My First Tooth - Sleet and Snow
7. Our Own Devices - Fur On The Float
8. Pennines - Open Closed Open
9. Pictures - I Can't Touch Him; I Have Electric Hands
10. The Defeat - An Entire Day In Pastel Colours

Whilst we have the opportunity we'd also like to give an honourable mention to the following bands who were just a whisker away from the final 12: Flies Are Spies From Hell, Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, Moleck, The Steve Bland Assembly, Worriedaboutsatan, Freddy Furber, Marvin's Revolt, Tripwires and Decades.
April 2008 will see the release of a very exciting 10" record from Big Scary Monsters. The first of it's kind, we want your input to help create the perfect compilation.
'The 6 Machine' is a 10" vinyl release featuring 6 of the best unsigned bands around. But we don't want to just pick the bands we think and tell you they're good, we want YOU to tell us who should be on there.
Bands:
If you think you might be interested in getting on the compilation, all you need to do is send an MP3 to bsm6machine@googlemail.com along with a bit of info on your band. This isn't limited to UK artists, you can be based anywhere in the world. The deadline is 24th Feb and after that date we'll be picking our favourite 12, which will then be put up online for everyone to vote on. The 6 with the most votes come 7th March will very soon after find their work on a lovely slab of 10" vinyl.
Everyone else:
We need you to come back onto this website between 29th Feb and 7th March to cast your vote. You'll only be able to pick one band each, so you'll have to choose wisely!
Along the way we'll try to help you make up your minds by running profiles on the 12 shortlisted finalists over at Blog Scary Monsters and putting out a special episode of the BSM podcast with music from them all.
More details of the release will be announced shortly. Keep checking the website for updates and feel free to email with any questions.
The small print
Submitted MP3 must be release quality recording and a track you would be happy for us to use on the record. Don't worry, we'll contact you again before pressing the vinyl to check it's still ok. By emailing us your music you don't lose any rights to it and you may still back out at a later date should you wish.
Please don't send us any rough demos along with promises of better sounding tracks to follow. If you don't have a well recorded song emailed to us by 24th Feb, you can't enter. Simple as.
Any MP3s sent to any other Big Scary Monsters related email addresses will not count. Only files sent to bsm6machine@googlemail.com will be considered. Similarly, Myspace links will be ignored.
If you wish to send a CD, email for the postal address. Do not send to the address on the contact page!
