As you may have read before, everyone who comes to one of the Santa Tours (Secondsmile, Get Cape and Itch) shows will get a free CD. Well in the true spirit of Christmas, I've decided to spread this good time festive deal and help keep all of you unfortunate enough to not be able to make it to any of the tour dates happy.
If you buy anything from this website from now until the end of January, you will get a free copy of the brand new sampler CD.
The CD features 8 amazing bands and the tracklisting, for all you enquisitive types, can be found on the Product page now. The CD won't be on sale anywhere else so you need to take advantage of this. There are only 1000 copies so it won't last long.
ALSO! There are a load of new offers up in the Bargains section of the website, including the chance to pre-order the forthcoming Secondsmile album for only £7. Have a look.
AND LAST BUT BY NO MEANS LAST! The Secondsmile promo video for 'Our Great and Secret Show' can be downloaded from here now. Have a look.
More (exciting) news soon...

So much going on I fear my head will explode.
Check out the new issue (December) of Rock Sound. As well as saying some nice words ("Gorgeous, sweeping, crescendos offset by dilligent, spearing vocal lines build to outbursts of unruly power. Worthy of the 'Sigur Ros of metal' title") about the Jairus EP, they also give readers the opportunity to download an exclusive MP3 from that CD as well as an unmastered track from the forthcoming Secondsmile album. All you need to do is buy the magazine and turn to page 19, then follow the instructions from there.
I'm afraid to announce that the self-titled EP from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is currently out of stock. The final few copies will be on sale at Sam's upcoming shows, but once they're gone there won't be any more until sometime next year. More news on when that will be will be posted on here soon.
And don't stop reading here! There's lots of exciting stuff below...

Some pretty exciting news which I'm now bored of sitting on... We're having a Christmas tour. It's only small, but size doesn't matter does it? So with no further ado, Big Scary Monsters Records and Rock Sound presents... "Santa Tours"
Taking part on the tour will be the guitar-tapping beautiful rage of SECONDSMILE, the acoustic sounds of youthful genius GET CAPE. WEAR CAPE. FLY. and the start-stop-start again musical plague that is ITCH. Accompanied by Santa and armfulls of booze, Christmas is coming two weeks early for lots of lucky kids this year.
That's not the end of the festive joy, but in true Scrooge fashion I'm going to keep the rest of it to myself for now.
Anyway, here are the dates. See you all there...
08.12 - Manchester, The Phoenix
09.12 - Coventry, Trinity's
11.12 - London, The Barfly (w/ Jairus)
13.12 - Southend, Mannequin Republic
14.12 - Oxford, The Bullingdon
There's a banner here and a flyer here. Both of them would really love to sit on your websites, forums and Myspace pages, if you'll have them?

Photos of Secondsmile in the studio recording their album, and also filming their new video are now online. Have a look.

18/10/05
I'm home. Back on the shores of good ol' blighty. The European tour was brilliant. We laughed a lot, we partied a lot, we ate pretty much nothing, we drove for hours at a time and the gigs were great fun. Big thanks go out to Edgars for organising it all and of course the bands for playing their hearts out and making it such an amazing time. A full tour diary and photos will be up online soon.
In other news... The new EP from Jairus is here. It looks good, it sounds good, it should be in your CD collection, it's in shops everywhere from 18th November, it's available to buy online now. All mailorders will be sent in a couple of weeks, so you'll have it two weeks before the HMV dwellers. Everyone's a winner. Pick it up from the Product section and make yourself happy.
Secondsmile's album is mixed and off to be mastered now. The record is currently set for a 23rd January release, but don't despair, a track or two will be up online in two weeks time, along with the video for the opening track 'Our Great And Secret Show'. It's a little bit good, so make sure you come back and check that out soon.
A new track by Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly was played on Radio One's Evening Session last Tuesday. It's probably too late to listen back to the show online now, I just thought I'd mention it on here anyway cos I like telling people.

Have you heard The Campaign For Real Time? They're from Boston (that's Boston in the US, not Boston in Newcastle). They had a track on the recent BSM label sampler 'All The Better To Eat You With, My Dear'. They have ex-members of Garrison (Revelation Records). They have an album which is coming out early next year. They'll be touring the UK in support of it. They have a page up on this website where you can read a bit more about them and have a listen to a demo MP3. Oh and they were played on Steve Lamacq last night, which you can listen back to on the BBC Radio One website.

As a few of you may have already heard, there's been a bit of a development in the Sparks Lights & Flames camp. Here's a message from the band:
Ok, well.....where to begin...these things are never easy. Possibly harder
than ending a relationship. How do you tell countless people it's over when
telling one is almost impossible?
I think, from the first few lines you all know what is coming. But the long
and the short of it is that Sparks Lights and Flames no longer exists as a
musical entity, it still, however, floats freely in our hearts, and nestles
among our fondest memories. Excuse the pretention but the truth is the most
important element of our lives has irrevocably changed and then ceased to
exist. Apart from the all too short audio document some of you own....
Firstly thank you to all of you for your support and love over the last 15
months, the most incredible 15 months of our lives. Thank you to Kev BSM who
not only has become a friend but also a constant inspiration. We can't think
of a more decent, hardworking genuine person in the 'industry'. Thank you to
all the bands we havve toured with or played one off's with. Thank you to
all the people who let us sleep in their houses and drink their coffee.
Writing this is actually one of the hardest parts of the whole thing, so
final, like laying a loved one to rest.
Please don't feel any ill will towards us, it just simply wasn't working
anymore, and we couldn't lie to you. We also further more couldn't lie to
ourselves.
In the immortal words of Mr Thomas Gale.. 'If you love us we love you, if
you hate us we love you'
With the most profound sincerity, thank you again.
Marc, Dave, Tom and Tim (Sparks Lights and Flames)
I'm sure many of you would like to join me in wishing them the best of luck in the future and will agree that SL&F will be sorely missed.

First and foremost, I am moving house on Friday (1st July) so please bare with me. I won't have any internet access for at least a week, so if you don't hear from me, don't hate me. Mailorders will also be delayed. Sorry.
It feels ages since I last typed a message last this... 'Mantrap The Surveyors (And Kiss The Weather Girls)', the debut EP from Days Ago, is finally ready for release. Four tracks of post hardcore falling somewhere between Glassjaw, old Secondsmile, These Arms Are Snakes and The Bled. Recorded by Mark Williams (Million Dead, Aconite Thrill, Yourcodenameis:milo) and mastered in New Jersey by Alan Douches (The Bloodbrothers, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Since By Man) you already know how good it sounds. Just incase you need some kind of reassurance however, there's an MP3 up on the bands ASSOCIATE page now.
The EP is released on 15th August but if you pre-order it through here you can buy the BSM label sampler CD ('All The Better To Eat You With, My Dear') for half the usual price. So that's just £8 for the two CDs. Not bad, hey? Just click here
Don't forget that The Little Explorer, Itch and This Town Needs Guns are out on tour in July. Go say hello...

03.07 - Preston, 12 Bar (no TTNG)

A reminder of a reminder... Look below and go see Jairus and Secondsmile on tour! Links to venue maps etc are provided so there's no real excuse not to go
The Little Explorer, Itch and This Town Needs Guns are out and about together at the start of July. Go see them too. Here's the flyer.
Jairus have finished the recording of their new EP. Simply titled "EP" it sounds as amazing as you might expect. As soon as it's mastered I'll put a track up on here. The CD will be released in September.
As the Get Cape Wear Cape Fly CD sold out so quickly (the full pressing was gone in less than a month!), we've decided to do another 500. Mainly because I couldn't be arsed with lots of emails asking if it's still available, but also because it's a damn good EP and more people deserve to own it.
As many of you have already heard, Mudford has decided to leave Sparks Lights And Flames. The circumstances are somewhat strange so I won't go into the details, but I will say that right now there are no plans to look for a full-time replacement vocalist, but the band will be carrying on. Thanks to everyone who still went out and supported them on tour with Eden Maine. It was a difficult few days but from all accounts, a very worthwhile and well received one.
And last but by no means least, I'd like to take the opportunity to quash the rumours which seem to be circulating regarding Chariots. They have NOT split up. Steve, the drummer, has left the band but the rest of them are still going. Unfortunately due to his departure the bands scheduled recording time had to be postponed, but they will be recording the EP in a couple of months time, hopefully to be released before the end of the year. They will also be touring all over the UK this September. Ben, formerly of The Guillaume Seam, will be handling the drumming responsibilities on both the recording and tour.

I'm delighted to announce that we have another new face in the family. Please be standing as you welcome Jairus to the BSMpire... Their album, 'The Need To Change The Mapmaker', was one of the finest UK releases of last year and if you don't own it, you should.
Jairus' first act as a BSM band will be to contribute their track, 'Sabina In The Deceiving Breeze', to the upcoming label sampler entitled 'All The Better To Eat You With, My Dear'. The track has not previously been released in the UK. After this they will record a brand new 6 track EP, which will be released late in the summer. Look out for more info on that in the coming months, but for now, check them out in the Associates section and listen to some songs here.
On the subject of the forthcoming 'All The Better To Eat You With, My Dear' sampler CD... It will be released next month to coincide with a label showcase tour. On the CD you will find brand new and exclusive tracks from Secondsmile, Sparks Lights & Flames, The Remarkable Rocket, Boom In The Diamond Industry and more. As well as album/EP tracks from the likes of Jeniferever, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Chariots, Itch and others. It can be pre-ordered now from the Products page.
If you're in London on Saturday 19th March, why not come along to the Bar Academy? For a lowly £5 you will see Sparks Lights & Flames, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Kneehigh and the first London show back for Secondsmile. Tickets can be bought here. Yesterday was my 21st and a half birthday. I feel so old.
So, who's heard Itch? If you haven't, you're missing out. Here are four steps to improving your life:

2) Download the video for 'Tables Turned', the first track from the afore mentioned album. A higher quality version of the video will appear on the CD
3) Buy the album. Learn the words.

A quick blast of news. The Guardian's review of Jeniferever last Saturday can be found here. And there are some photos from the trusty camera of David Nicol, which can be found through the following links. Jeniferever, 65 Days Of Static and SLAF.
Iris by Jeniferever is currently out of print. The demand after the tour was amazing and we're now fresh out. We will have more copies soon, but if you're waiting on a mailorder, I'm afraid it will be a couple of weeks yet.
Also, I Am Not Romeo, You Are Not Juliet by Secondsmile is down to its very final few copies and at the moment, there are no plans to re-press it. In other words, buy it now!

A big thank you to everyone who came to the Jeniferever/65 Days/SLAF/The Search gig last night in London. It was the most successful show we've put on yet and everyone had an amazing time. Incase you weren't there, or just didn't know, it was to mark the launch of the Play Dead compilation CD. The boys sold a few copies, toasted the success with a bottle of champagne, and we're already looking ahead to more shows.
On the subject of gigs, there are some photos from the Christmas party up now. Click here.

Incase you haven't already heard, Olly has left Secondsmile. The band are continuing without him and everything is ticking over just fine. In other words, don't think it's the end of this band, it's simply the start of a new chapter.
