Good news and bad news today...

GOOD NEWS!! The Propaganda section is up and running. It's basically a small zine, being run by Olly from Secondsmile. There's a little bit of content up there now, and there will be more on the way, including a rock n roll diary. If you want to help out by contributing, get in touch.

BAD NEWS!! Unfortunately James (vocals) has left emotiveexposed. The band are now looking for a replacement, so if you think you might be up to the job, get in touch with them. They're based in Wolverhampton and if you don't know what they sound like, an MP3 can be found on the Associates page. Help them out people. Pass this news on.

17/10/04
Today I am 21 and 1/4 years old. Happy fucking birthday to me

BIG thanks to everyone who came to the gig in London last night. Everything went amazingly well, the bands were great, the people were great (all 211 of you) and the only thing that went wrong was Mr Greg Kneehigh managing to break BOTH toilet cubicle doors (slow down boy, you'll do yourself an injury) and Mr David Schwimmer not turning up, even though we put him on the guestlist. You just can't please some people. Anyway, here are some photos...

11/10/04
Check this out: Sex Is Mathematics - taken from 'Vegas Psalms, Casino Hymns' by Sparks Lights And Flames

Unfortunately the rumours are true: Stories and Comets have called it a day. Go to their website now to read their closing statement and to pay your last respects.

For the moment you're gonna have to make to do with demo tracks. And of course the crazy Chariots live video.

You know you're corporate when you have t-shirts available in a range of sizes, and not one, but TWO different colours. That's right ladies and gentlemen, we have new t-shirts. There are also a very very few of the 'smile' and 'logo' design ones left, so if you want one of those, you better move quick. Check out the INVEST!! page.

Do me a favour: Save these banners and spread em around

Home sweet home. Or something like that. Can you believe it's October already? The year is passing too quickly for my liking. Must be getting old.

Updates updates updates. To begin with, we're putting on a gig in London. Saturday 16th September. My Awesome Compilation, Stories and Comets, Days In December and Secondsmile. Also on the 2004 front, Chariots have pretty much finished their album. Again, not sure on the release date yet. They'll be heading out for a short tour with The Guillaume Seam in January.

Next year is already shaping up real good. A handful of releases are already planned, as well as the launch of our new little brother label, If God Loves Records He's Gonna Want To Fuck Me In A Minute. Look out for that one, it's gonna be scene as fuck.

30/08/04
I'm off to New York until 24th September. I'll still be checking emails when I get a chance, but things will be slow, so don't expect too much! If you have anything really really urgent, please email Claire. Mailorders will be sent out on my return. I'll keep some kind of diary thing on MySpace if you want to know just how much fun I'm having while y'all get rained on.

Miss me.

23/08/04
If you only go to one gig in October, make sure it's this one.

If you only download one banner to use on message boards this month, make sure it's this one.

If you only fall in love to the tune of one band this year, make sure it's this one.

11/08/04

Can you help promote BSM? We're looking for people to help out by giving out flyers, promoting us on message boards, things like that. Any help you can offer will be rewarded. Get in touch if you could lend us a hand, and click here for a banner which can be used in your signature on message boards or added to websites. Thanks

16/06/04
You know what, tomorrow I turn 20 years and 11 months old. Shit.

Nothing of great interest to say, allow me to babble for a bit... Stories and Comets and Through Silence are touring lots and lots over July, all the dates will be added very soon. We're trying to sort shows for our new breed: Itch, Secondsmile and Chariots, for the coming months. If you can offer any of them anything at all, get in touch. And if you haven't checked those bands out yet, do so very soon...

One final thing, we're having a big push on our mailing list right now. If you're not on it, please join! Go to the speak section and fill in your details. Thanks

08/06/04
So, hands up who likes the new website? Lovingly crafted by the very gifted Squeak who has recently produced the Stories and Comets/Face For Radio split 7" sleeve for us, as well as some damn nice Chariots t-shirts, websites for SAC, Funeral For A Friend and loads more. If you find any problems with the site, let me know. I'll pretend like I know how to fix em but will probably just pass them on

26/05/04
For what's likely to be a very short time (ie until either Mr Bowie or the band come to kick my arse), there's a somewhat disturbing home video of MAC up online. Filmed pretty much dead on a year ago now, it shows the side of the band which, those close to them, are probably just a little too familiar with. Click here to download it.

16/05/04
Quick update to say that two of our domestically-challenged associates will be coming over to tour very soon. Go and see them play. You won't be disappointed, and you might make some new friends while you're there...

Summer's nearly here, you ingrates

In June we will be releasing the new Jeniferever CDEP. 4 tracks clocking in at just under a mighty 40 minutes, featuring piano, strings, horns and all the other loveliness you should now have come to expect from these darling Swedish lads. There's an MP3 of 'You Only Move Twice' here and all the tour dates will soon be up online.

On the subject of new releases, we're pleased to welcome Chariots to the family. For those who haven't already heard them, they're a young band who take up and destroy the middle ground between Orchid and Converge. Check out their page in the associates section, where you can read a bit more about them and listen to a demo MP3. We'll be releasing their new EP at the end of August and they'll be touring in July

More news on releases, shows and other things coming soon, when I'm a bit less busy probably. Until then, buy the new Mountain Men Anonymous album, close your eyes, and imagine a herd of elephants trampling all over your happy place

27/03/04
A quick news update... FogDonkey have changed their name. From now on, they will be known as Boom In The Diamond Industry.

We're booking some tourdates, can you help?

21/03/04
Huge thanks to everyone who came along to the Friends & Family show yesterday. It was wicked good fun, if a little stressful at times, but everything worked out brilliantly in the end. A few minor celebrities were in attendance and even Jay Kay from Jamiroquai was spotted wandering past. Rock n fucking roll. The place was packed, the bands were amazing and there was a lovely friendly, sociable atmosphere. Big thanks and raise of the glass to Considerate DJ Richard Bitchard for keeping everyone everyone entertained between bands, and for turning the music down a little when he saw a guy struggling to hear what the other person was saying on his phone. Bless him.

We should have photos and possibly a couple of video clips up here sometime. By the way, if you were one of the people taking photos, please get in touch!

16/03/04
Hello people. Spent the last few days in Belgium taking in some culture, learning some new phrases and watching My Awesome Compilation win themselves many new fans. You know there are bars which boast 2000 different beers and still the venues only have Stella. Nonsense. Anyway, there are some live photos here. Scroll through all the crap, they're somewhere near the bottom. Look out for the headless Darius shots. They're quite something

Just updated the distro section with a couple of new things. Obviously I recommend everything in there but especially the Dugong and Trencher CDs which have occupied my attention for much of the day today.

It's the BSM Friends & Family show in London on Saturday afternoon. Be there

10/03/04
Just incase, by some freak of nature you've somehow had a moment of absolute blindness and missed it... we have a showcase gig in London. Be there

Now for the best news you're gonna hear since the above paragraph: The Next Autumn Soundtrack have re-formed! Guitarist Alex has left and been replaced by Ed Mayle, formally of lots of Grimsby bands. The boys promise newer, poppier material, but still very much TNAS. They might even play a couple of the old favourites if you ask them nicely. Their first gig back is with My Awesome Compilation on 22nd April at The Vic in Derby

More news to come next week. For now, listen to Buck 65

24/02/04 Why is it I only seem to get around to updating this thing when it's bastard cold outside?

Anyway, on with the news... First off: Theres been a slight delay with the Stories and Comets / Face For Radio split 7" although everything is now back on track. The FFR track is complete and sounding lovely, a video is also being prepared. SAC will be completing theirs this sunday, and the label design (courtesy of Windup World who have done things for Funeral For A Friend, Days In December and others in the past) is just about ready too. A release date and more info will be added to the website soon.

The Dudley Corporation have completed their first UK tour and from all reports it went very well too. Have a look at their website for a tour diary. While they were over here they even found time to record a session for BBC Six Music. Click here to listen. Their split release with the lovely Querelle is now available to buy. So fuck off and do so

The Written From Negative single, 'They Dance Like That In Clubs' is now ready and has already picked up some wonderful press. Check this out incase you needed any encouragement to buy the thing. The band will be touring with Rays Of Helios (ex-And None Of Them Knew They Were Robots) in May. If you can help out with booking a show, get in touch. Thanks

Very soon I'll be adding a minor distro section to the website. Delights will include CDs from the likes of Planes Mistaken For Stars, Trencher, Beezewax, xCanaanx, Steel Rules Die, Eden Maine, Shortcut To Newark, My Favourite Co-Pilot, The New Lev Yashin and more. If you run a label or distro and would be up for trading, get in touch.

We've very kindly been offered a label showcase at Rota on Saturday 20th March, at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London. For anyone who hasn't heard of the event before, it's a free entry saturday afternoons affair, full of arty people in scarves drinking bottled beers and coctails. Ok that might paint a slightly bad picture to you but it's pretty much my heaven. Bands will be confirmed soon but whoever plays you know it's gonna be great. The whole thing will be over by 8pm and the BSM party train is going to run right through the capital, pretty much all night long, so you have no excuses not to join the fun.

My Awesome Compilation are now on tour. Unfortunately(?) The Holiday Plan have been forced to pull out of the first two dates in Leeds and Liverpool, meaning MAC had to headline. The remaining dates are as follows...

25/02/04: Newcastle - University
26/02/04: Glasgow - Barfly
27/02/04: York - Fibbers
28/02/04: Sheffield - Fez
29/02/04: Cardiff - Barfly
01/02/04: Birmingham - Academy 3
02/02/04: Manchester - Roadhouse
04/02/04: London - Underworld

Through Silence have unfortunately lost their bassist. A change in career for Mitch has led to new commitments, and so leaving the band seemed to make sense. They're currently looking for a replacement, go to their website for more details

09/02/04 I'm ill. All sympathy should be sent to this address: kev@bsmrocks.com. Thanks

Not much to say so just a quick update before I return TO MY SICK BED WHERE I WILL ROT TO DEATH

We have a new addition to the family. BSM will now be co-releasing the upcoming Days In December EP with Alaska Recordings. The CD is recorded, sounds amazing, artwork is nearly done, the video is being edited and the distributors are scrtaching their heads and setting a release date. More info and MP3s will be online when I FEEL WELL ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF BED FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES

Every Souvenir Has A Story by My Awesome Compilation is very very close to selling out now. We're hoping to re-press in a few months once we've got some of the upcoming releases out of the way, but if you don't already own it, I (IN MY SERIOUSLY ILL STATE) seriously suggest you buy now!

Don't you just hate it when SICK people try and milk sympathy?

10/01/04
The start of a new year, hope everyone had a jolly festive season.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Christmas party at The Verge, a good time was had by all, lots of drink was consumed, lots of merch was sold (possibly directly related to the alcohol thing?), the bands were brilliant, a hole was kicked in the wall, a light was broken and Santa won many new friends. The show was captured on video and we’ll hopefully have something up online soon for everyone who missed out to download and suffer.

2004 is already looking bright. On Monday 5th Jan Steve Lamacq played My Favourite Co-Pilot’s ‘note to self’ track on his Lamacq Live programme on Radio One, off the sampler CD and stated that BSM is a label to watch out for. I’m still grinning. Also, Fury Fanzine have awarded The Next Autumn Soundtrack / Jeniferever split CD the EP of the month crown. Once again, big grins. Look out for the upcoming issue of RockSound too, we have reason to believe there may be a couple of BSM related reviews in there. We’re just crossing fingers, toes and paths that they’re good ones!

The next couple of months are gonna be busy busy busy. No less than THREE vinyl releases are planned: Written From Negative, Stories and Comets vs Face For Radio and The Dudley Corporation vs Querelle. All will feature nice DIY packaging and will be as lovely as lovely can be. The bands are all out and about playing live too, with Dudley coming over for their first UK tour, and SAC doing two nationwide tours, one with The Not Katies and one with Something Hollow (ex-Grade). So look out for that

Incase you haven’t noticed, we have nightly black t-shirts with girly pink print for sale now. They’re pretty limited so buy soon.
