In their words: "Mimas is a furry kitten: Restless, picking fights and still lazy and patient at times. Always curious, trying to find out how things work. Never too calculated and neither too naïve, Mimas write guitar-oriented songs that often contain jazzy drums, longing trumpet and passionate shouting. Rock, pop, indie or jazz - whatever pleases this furry kitten. They dislike the taste of mice, however."
After the success of their debut album The Worries, Danish boys Mimas returned with their second offering Lifejackets. It's a natural progression from the intricate post-rock of their debut. Lifejackets feels like a beautiful journey through the hearts and minds of Danish boys Snaevar Albertsson (vocals, guitar, trumpet), Daniel Beck (guitar), Lasse Christensen (drums) and Gert Jorgensen (bass, vocals).
With gorgeous layered guitar melodies and a cerebral quirkiness unique to the Scandinavian four-piece, Lifejackets is an amalgamation between US indie legends American Football and indie folk oddball Darwin Deez.
The album was mixed by Addi 800 (Blur, Sigur Ros, Bjork) and mastered by Grammy nominee Chris Tsangarides (Depeche Mode, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy) and it's hard to believe such an accomplished album was only their second to date.
