Hi, I'm Gulfer! I'd like to tell you about my story. At first I was a 6-piece band with a cellist called Empire Calypso, but everyone quit. After a few years in limbo, I found myself a bassist who also loved early Sargent House, UK math-pop and American tapping/shouting music. I wrote a bunch of songs, recorded them for a split with fago.sepia, and played my first show with Everyone Everywhere in May 2012.
I've tried to tour a bunch since then but I didn't know how to drive a car, so Vasudeva and People Like You drove me around USA, and Sport drove me around Europe. One time I took the bus to do a mini-tour with Tiny Moving Parts.
I have been blessed to have released music on Topshelf Records and Friend of Mine Records, and now I am gearing up for my most exciting collaboration to date! What Gives is coming out on vinyl for the first time through Big Scary Monsters and I couldn't be more excited. I also found someone to drive me and Alaska around Europe this summer! I am writing a new record and hope to have it out on BSM in Summer 2017.
At my inception in 2011, Gulfer was Vincent, Simon and David. Steven joined in 2013, and Steven and Simon left in 2016. Gulfer is currently Vincent, David, Julien and Joey
