With songs about the trivialities of office jobs, rather than the macho subjects of beer, women and football you may expect from such a matter of factly named band, MEN are coming to get you. A sentence worth every pang of fear it should strike into you in any context.
The Norwich based three-piece come armed with the perfect summer soundtrack to remind any begrudging punk staring miserably out of their workplace window that things aren't so bad. One listen to the bands brilliant 2009 demo, including the Hot Water Music meets Beach Boys, 'Re: Your Re-Branding', or the shouldbe pop hit of the year, 'Big Fucker', will have you giving up on the issues of your boss being a dick and your co-workers absolute ineptitude in no time.
MEN sprung onto the scene from nowhere late last year when NME (who ran a full page Radar feature) and then by Pitchfork, who chimed in with their admiration, clammered to talk up their gruff, pop stylings. At the time the band had but a few gigs under their belts and little more to talk about in these interviews than the fact that two thirds of their members also make up the ranks of UK math rock greats, Pennines, and that the bassist's baby is named Huey Lewis. Although that's a story worth telling any time! Now, with the release of their debut EP looming in June, it's time for everyone to stop acting so coy. Nobody will mock you. You love Men. It's ok, we get it.
MEN's as yet untitled EP is set for release in June via Big Scary Monsters Records. The band tour with Tall Ships to coincide. Dates to follow shortly.
