Sweden's Jeniferever are a band difficult to define. Drowned in Sound attempted: "Think Last Days Of April vs Bluetip vs The Appleseed Cast in an angular swooping way. In other words, amazing!" We just refer to them as Swedish.

Breaking away from the distinct, brash punk sound we've come to recognise from Scandinavian rock outfits of late; Jeniferever are altogether more melodic and complicated. Their music ebbs and flows between guitar riffs and melancholy jazz parts to create an impressive soundscape unlike any other.

Already successful in their home land they now turn their hand at impressing the hell out of a British audience and we have no doubt they'll do just that.

After the resounding success of 2003's split release with The Next Autumn Soundtrack, Jeniferever then release a new EP, 'Iris'. Released in June 2004 on the Big Scary Monsters label, it featured 4 new tracks, clocking in at just under a very impressive 40 minutes. The CD sold out (twice) but has just been re-pressed in early 2007. Their new album is also available via Drowned In Sound Records

The Guardian
Those not disposed towards the prevailingly jagged attack of latter-day "nick-nick" rock round these parts might do well to seek out this Swedish lot and their altogether more rounded edges. Gentle, rippling emo epics are their thing, not quite as drift and ethereal as the likes of Sigur Ros but certainly of a similar bent. Guitars swell, violins keen, singers coo and the audience gently sways their troubles away, with nary an angular riff in sight.

Rock Sound
Treading water in the depths between Sigur Ros and My Bloody Valentine at their romantic best, Sweden’s Jeniferever are capable of crafting the most wonderful, ethereal music this side of Godspeed You! Black Emporer’s collective dreams. Their ‘Iris’ EP showcases their immense potential: all shimmering, stratospheric guitars and strings to melt the most frozen of hearts... With luck, Jeniferever will own 05

Drowned In Sound
Annoyingly, Sweden (and, indeed, Scandinavia as a whole) has become as synonymous with all things 'garage' and 'rock' (hello The Hives, Sahara Hotnights, The Division Of Laura Lee etc) as it ever was with Abba and easily-assembled yet deceptively fetching pine furniture. However, Jeniferever should add another string to the country's musical bow... Capturing the no man's land between The Appleseed Cast and The Last Days Of April... Fans of everyone from the ethereal Sigur Ros to progressive-hardcore crew Since By Man will find a slot on their playlist for Jeniferever... ‘Iris’ is simply a beautiful record that you’ll find caressing your hangover time and time again

Fury Fanzine
Sweden's Jeniferever most certainly do not fit the thrash metal mould that the country has become synonymous with producing. They are one of the few insightful bands out there at present who aren't afraid to exhibit that songs don't need to have incessant vocals to seize the listener's attention. The soaring melodies and sharp layers overlaying the powerful drum beat combine to form emo's answer to the sheer brutality of Isis, with a little latter day Radiohead and archaic Far thrown in for good measure. Definitely ones to watch in 2004. EP Of The Month - 5/5

Comes With A Smile
I’m really not sure how to convey exactly how great it is without gushing like a child would about their favourite Disney film. ‘Iris’ is, simply, beautiful.

Big Cheese
If Sweden's latest musical output trend is to be dipping their collective toes into emo/indie rock then it's likely Jeniferever will float to the top as one of the forerunners... My humble opinion is they are head & shoulders above fellow Scando's Sounds Like Violence

Play Dead
There are people who can do this kinda thing (Mogwai, Appleseed Cast etc) and there are people who can't. Jeniferever definitely can... If you like your melodic, beautiful, flowing, emotive, instrumental-esque music then you will LOVE this band.

New-Noise
Sometimes our dreams provide us with the opportunity of hope we have lost in the real world. "Sometimes we're better off knowing only parts of the truth," Kristofer Jonson sings. Sometimes we're better off just listening to Jeniferever.

Rancid News This might just be the most beautifully packaged CD I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing all year. Accentuating barren soundscapes and lush plains with an aural intensity of glacial proportion, Jeniferever orchestrate harmoniously bleak bards with the sonic affiliation of Mogwai and the disdainful propulsion of The Spires of Oxford. This is permissive music for the intrepid navel gazer and if you want to hear one of the most diffidently beautiful bands to grace to UK with their presence this year, you’re rather fortunate that BSM have flat-packed them for your convenience and are ready to deliver

Kill The Noise
Often mellow and melancholic, but ultimately uplifting and powerful collection. It's sparse yet at the same time grand as hell. Just... lovely

All The Cool Kids Like Punk
A good late night listen or for when you’re feeling a bit fragile it’s a real good CD and you should spend all your money on it

Logo Magazine
Complex, deeply layered melodies shored up by incessantly powerful drumming that on the one hand summons an image of Radiohead in rock mode, on the other the delicacy of emo. It’s most definitely not emo though. 3.5/5

Skratch Magazine
Their music flows with a graciously melodic intricacy, reminiscent of Breach’s quieter moments, and resulting in some beautifully simplistic soundscapes.

Subba-Cultcha
If you feel the rock/pop scene has become somewhat tiresome for your liking then this may be the group for you. Just don’t try saying their name fast 10 times
