Originally hailing from the contently named Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Anathallo (Greek translating as ‘to renew’ or ‘to make bloom again’) are 6 guys and 1 heavily outnumbered girl offering 7 delicate voices, armed with instruments which stretch out well past the norm. Taking in all manner of brass and wind family members, bells, pipes, Velcro strips and chains, their sound is big, engrossing and delightfully adventurous.
Since their 2001 conception Anathallo have come a long way from the bands early, wide-eyed teenage days playing post-punk. A relocation to Chicago and no less than 7 lineup changes has helped them mature into an incredible force, one which has seen them take the US by storm enjoying a huge online buzz, tours with the likes of Brand New, Manchester Orchestra and The New Amsterdams, as well as spots at many of the biggest festivals including New York's CMJ and Coachella in LA. Just recently the band had a track picked up to be used on a Vick’s Vapor Rub advert, running hundreds of times across the States with millions of American’s now associating the band’s soothing tones with their dry noses and painless heads!
Comparisons to Sufan Stevens, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and The Polyphonic Spree could be drawn, but Anathallo's beautiful, cinematic music goes well beyond a few vague reference points.
One listen and you’ll be intrigued, two will get you hooked, three and you’ll swear you can see the spring morning sun appearing over Mt Pleasant.

Paste magazine
"It's cacophonous and dizzying, but simultaneously tender and gripping without any trace of sentimentality. Anathallo nestles itself somewhere between Ian MacKaye's DIY ethos and Sigur Rós's pointed emotionality"
Good Weather For Airstrikes
”Unlike anything you’ve ever heard… Sprawling, epic, and highly operatic punk rock, or in other words, the most evolved and otherworldy punk rock you’ve ever heard”
Billboard
“Sweet like the folk lullabies of Sufjan Stevens and sour like the melancholy emo-pop of Straylight Run”
