Video   The results
Tom Aylott has put together a nice 10 minute video of highlights from this years tournament. The full, 25 minute version will be available later on this summer. Look out for news on that.

You can also check out loads of wonderful photo from the day over on Maryam Hassan's Flickr. Here are a couple of the team shots:

They think it's all over...
So that's it for another year! A hugely enjoyable day saw 150+ people hit Powerleague in East London for some pretty frantic footballing action in the sun, with only one broken nose this year, weirdly for the same guy who smashed his leg in three places 12 months ago. Unlucky.

Anyway, over on the right you will see that Fear and Records have achieved the impossible and become the first team to retain the trophy! Beating newcomers Red Bull in the most dramatic final we've seen so far, with Hassle and Get Cape the unfortunate losing semifinalists. I think it's fair to say that the standard was higher than ever before this year with only Hold Your Horse Is, Los Campesinos/Wichita and Big Life ending with no points. Most importantly - and annoyingly - of all, BSM became the only team to win 2 out of 3 group games and still not qualify for the second round. Next year, next year!

Here are the four final groups and full list of results...

So there, analyse that. Photos and video(s) coming soon...

The official fixture list
Rock Sound have published this years fixture list (including kick-off times) on their website. Have a look and see if you can work out who'll be losing out in each round.

Ch-ch-ch-changes
Unfortunately the Regents Place Powerleague centre is to close, meaning the tournament is moving. It now takes place at the London City branch, with a 2pm kick-off rather than the originally planned - and horribly early - 11am.

Team news: I thought I broke my metatarsal last weekend. Turns out I didn't.

The results are in...
Thanks to Gareth Dobson from Fear And Records and Radio One's lovely Huw Stephens (who won't be taking part in the tournament for not meeting the criteria of knowing who Trevor Brooking is) for making the group stage draw at this weekends Great Escape Festival in Brighton, the results of which you can see to the right, now. And just incase you don't believe it happened, here's a video, in HD, no less...

Round-up:

Group A is a tale of two clashes with Alcopop Records facing up against Idle Hands, the management roster which boasts a handful of their bands, whilst the Front Magazine/Devil PR team is captained by Matt Hughes, former Fear And Records player. Group B is the Hollywood group, with arguably the biggest names of the tournament, three of whom are unknown quantities. Group C once again pits BSM up against long-time rivals, Hassle Records, as well as former signee Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and newcomers Big Life Management. And finally, Group D looks highly competitive with Punktastoc, Banquet and Hold Your Horse Is all sharing former players, whilst Rolo Tomassi will be hoping to sneak through the drama and cruise into their quarter finals. Exciting!

The group stage draw
The group stage draw is set to be made on Friday 14th June in Brighton, ahead of the BSM showcase at The Great Escape.

All entrants in this years tournament - and indeed any interested spectators/confused old drunks - are welcomed to the Umi Hotel bar on the seafront (just down the road from the Queens Hotel, on the corner of the cinema/Oceana nightclub) at 6pm where Gareth Dobson, captain of last years winning side, Fear And Records, will be making the draw.

The info and video will be posted here shortly after, but keep an eye on Twitter for the most up to date news (PS. the feed to the right shows everything tagged #bsm5aside)

Go time!
With less than a month to go until the biggest sporting tournament of the year (and just a few extra days until the poxy World Cup, the 2nd biggest) kicks off, we're delighted to announce the 16 teams who will be competing to lift our tiny trophy.

Last years winners, Fear And Records are returning, hoping to become the first team ever to successfully defend the title, whilst 2007's winners, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, and 2008's, Punktastic, will both be looking for revenge, having lost in the final and semi's respectively last time out. The ever-improving Rock Sound will be hoping they can mount a serious challenge whilst Team BSM is hoping for an easier group stage draw, having failed to make it through the first stage since '07. Rolo Tomassi return for the first time in two years, after a nasty broken wrist incident marred their last challenge, and the worst team to ever compete in the tournament, Idle Hands, are back again to provide a bit of comedy for the real athletes out there! Of course, regulars, Alcopop, Banquet and Hassle will all be back to have another shot at glory, but like the rest of the competition will be looking nervously over their shoulder at the unknown quantities of newcomers Tall Ships, Hold Your Hoses Is/Stagecoach, Los Campesinos/Wichita, Red Bull, Big Life and Front/Devil PR. It promises to be a very interesting afternoon!
