Tell us about The Attika State
The Attika State are a group of 5 friends that live in 3 different places in the U.K. - we dont see each other much but we love to make music together! We have 2 guitars, one bass, one set of drums, occasional piano, and lots of harmonies.

Where does the name come from?
A friend of ours is a big John Lennon fan. When throwing around band name ideas he mentioned the phrase attica state. The phrase referenced a prison community uprising against General Rockafella's prison in Attica, NYC. We mispelt "attika" and added a "The" . This accidentally referenced the anceint battle between the State of Attika and the Spartans. One spelling mistake equates to a long story!

What plans do you have for the rest of the year?
We have just completed our latest record with Dave Eringa (Manics, idlewild, the Xcerts) which we have named 'Measures'. It was recorded in North Wales in the Winter and we are incredibly excited for people to hear it! There is a single coming off it in July and the record to follow in September/October time. The rest of the year is going to be taken up with playing lots of shows to support the new record.
