Another of my favourite up and coming UK bands, Crooked Mountain, Crooked Sea are new boys on the scene and with their first tour just gone, you can be sure you'll hear a lot more about these by the end of the year.

Where does the name come from?
It's kind of an amalgamation of the titles of a Pavement record and a Silver Jews record. We're not really deliberately named after those albums- we just think the words fit nicely together and it's memorable.

Could you describe Crooked Mountain, Crooked Sea to someone who has never previously heard you?
We'd say that we are a rock band that sound quite loud and shouty a lot of the time. We try to make the music engaging and ambitious; our sound comes from a multitude of influences which hopefully makes it interesting.

Hold Your Horse Is (week 5, 1st Feb) recently tipped you as a band to look out for, are there any others you would like to heap similar praise on?
We're lucky to have played with some really good bands, with Hold Your Horse Is obviously being one! We'd also recommend listening to: Double Muscle, Chrik, Ute, and The James Cleaver Quintet.

What are your plans for the rest of 2010?
We went on our first tour back in January and had a great time, so we want to do a lot more of that. We're back out on tour again with our friends Hold Your Horse Is at the end of March, which we can't wait for. Most importantly I guess we just want to keep improving and hopefully record our best material yet this year.
